Signing for your needs

Sign a quote electronically: the "approved" sign-off (bon pour accord)

A tradesperson, a service provider or an agency has sent you a quote as a PDF, and is waiting for your signed approval before starting. No need to print it, sign it by hand and scan it: you can sign it electronically in a few minutes.

What your signature is worth

A quote signed by the client amounts to agreement on the service and its price: the contract is formed. An electronic signature has the same value as a handwritten one provided it identifies you and guarantees your link with the document (French Civil Code, Code civil, Article 1367).

Between businesses, a commercial act may be proved by any means (French Commercial Code, Code de commerce, Article L110-3): no signature level is imposed, and the simplest course is to agree on one with your provider before signing.

The handwritten words "bon pour accord" ("approved"), often requested on paper quotes, are not a legal requirement: they are a custom, which marks the intention to be bound. If your provider insists on them, add them to the document before converting it to PDF, or in a field provided for that purpose.

How to go about it

  1. Check the quote: service, price, timescales, terms. Once signed, it can no longer be modified.
  2. Upload the PDF you received to 1-signature, and place your signature where intended — often at the bottom of the last page, near the words "Signature du client" (client's signature).
  3. Sign, download the signed document, and send it back to your provider.

If the quote already bears the provider's signature, it is preserved: the final document bears both.

Which level to choose

For large-scale works, or if the provider asks for it, a higher level remains possible.
